Family of Things is a curated shop for considered, well-crafted art & design objects, and tools for living & creativity. Sourcing goods from makers around the world who are focused on a high level of quality and craft.

The mission of the shop is to support & promote independent makers, designers and manufacturers, and the process, time and intent dedicated to making things. All goods sourced are made with care from high-quality materials, with attention to detail, sustainability and longevity. The hope is to share things you can make, live or work with for a long time.

Family of Things was founded by Sara Jacobson in late 2021 to support and promote beautiful objects, and share the stories of their origins, materials and creators. With a Master in Designed Objects from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Sara became well-acquainted with the history of design, the process of making, and the value of craft and the creator. After living in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco for 13 years, frequenting design shops to collect & gift well-made objects in those cities and during frequent travel, she saw an opportunity to bring the concept for Family of Things back to her hometown of Omaha.

Family of Things is based in Omaha, NE and first opened in 2021 in the beautiful historic Little Bohemia neighborhood. At the end of 2024, the shop moved to focus online, with pop-ups, and gifting services. Please reach out if you'd like to collaborate!
